Damian is OliveBio’s computational scientist and lab operations expert. Holding a PhD in Genetics and Bioinformatics from the University of Nottingham, Damian began his career as a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Oxford and a bioinformatics consultant for the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI). Between 2018 and 2024, Damian served as the Chief Operating Officer, Head of Science, and Cofounder of Basepaws, a pet genetics startup acquired by Zoetis in 2022. At Basepaws, he led lab operations, bioinformatics, and data infrastructure strategy, developing an automation-focused lab operation scaling strategy that increased sample processing abilities 100-fold while reducing costs.
